Clubs & Activities
Interested students may obtain additional information from their teachers and the school office.
Art Club (Grades 7-8) (Sponsor: Mrs. Carter)
The Art Club is open to 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in furthering their exploration of art. They meet weekly to create their own artwork. Art Club students create decorations and help paint faces at the Commercial Club's annual Haunted Trail each October. They assist the PTO with their Create for Keeps fundraiser and host their annual Snacks and Splatters fundraiser. They also create various posters and backdrops for different clubs and activities throughout the school year. They enjoy an end-of-the-year field trip as well.

Character Council (Sponsor: Ms. Keen)
Character Council is a student leadership group that works to promote the good character of all students at Smithton Elementary in order to boost school climate and therefore, make our school a more effective place to learn.
Chess Club (Grades 6-8) (Sponsor: Mrs. Kampwerth)
Smithton's Chess Club is a group of students who meet to play chess, learn the rules, and improve their skills by playing against each other and participating in outside matches. The Chess Club is a fun and social way to learn and compete in chess.
Drama Club (Grades 6-8) (Sponsors: Mrs. Runyon)
National Junior Honor Society (Grades 6-8) (Sponsor: Ms. Dobey)
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a service club that elevates our school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Members of the NJHS develop the knowledge and skills to become well-rounded student leaders in their school, community, and beyond. To be a member of the NJHS students must maintain a 4.75 GPA in addition to completing 10 hours of volunteer service within the school or community. Smithton NJHS By-Laws

Student Council (Grades 6-8) (Sponsor: Mrs. Williams)
The Student Council is an opportunity for the students to help the community as well as build their social skills and show responsibility. Each student is responsible for attending Student Council Meetings & they sponsor the Spring 8th Grade Dance. Student Council members earn money and donate it to different funds.
Talent Show (Grades K-8) (Sponsors: Mrs. Kapp & Mrs. Kueker)
The talent show holds auditions and is performed each Spring in our Gym with two performances - one for the student body and one for parents/families.
Tech Club (Grades 6-8) (Sponsor: Mrs. Lynch)
The Smithton Tech Club is designed for students in grades 6-8 who have an interest in learning basic technology concepts and who will work collaboratively on projects that are engaging, educational, and fun.
