November 12, 2024: Scholar Bowl Tryouts will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13th right before school 7:20- 7:50 or after school 2:15-2:45 in Mrs. Runyon’s room. (choose which works best for you.)  Students will need their chromebook.  The faculty and administration of Smithton School are proud to announce Cam Garcia as the November Student of the Month! Cam was selected for this prestigious award in recognition of his excellent work ethic, outstanding character, and exemplary behavior. October 31, 2024: Congratulations to the girls basketball team on their win in Waterloo last night.  There is no school tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday.  The next donut day is Wednesday, November 6th. Character Council will be selling donuts in the main lobby for $1 on Wednesday, November, 6th.  We will have our Halloween parade today at 1:30. Weather permitting, we will call junior high teachers and staff to the playground at 1:25. Junior High students should stay outside after recess. We will begin the parade at 1:30 starting with 5th grade. An announcement will be made when it is time for you to take your class outside.  Halloween parties will follow the parade. Madison Marshall brought home the 2nd place individual medal while Kinsey Maschhoff came home with a 21st place finish. The boys team was able to secure a top 10 team finish, while Kyan Rensing secured an individual medal by placing 25th. There were 4 top 10 medalist: Madison Marshall (2nd place) Kinsey Maschhoff (3rd place), Mikey Finder (3rd place), and Kyan Rensing (4th place).  Good luck to the baseball team as they compete in the state championship game in Pinckneyville today. The Cougars had a great run yesterday at the Run In The Bud Invitational.  10 teams were represented at the meet.  It was a hilly 1.9 mile golf course run.  Mikey Finder & Madison Marshall won the boys and girls races.  5 top 15 finishers with Kyan Rensing in 2nd & Levi Hampel in 9th for the boys & Kinsey Maschhoff in 3rd for the girls.  The boys and girls teams both took 2nd place.  The Cougars are ready for regionals in Waterloo on Wednesday.  Good luck to the baseball team as they compete in the state tournament in Pinckneyville today. October 4, 2024: Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worchester, Massachusetts created the smiley face iconic image in 1963.  The image went on to become the most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer across the planet. The Cougars battled the hot weather and an extremely challenging 2-mile course at the Triad Invitational tonight.  There were 31 schools competing in the boys varsity race and 25 schools in the girls varsity race.  We had 2 top 20 medalists in the boys varsity race which had 223 runners competing!   Mikey Finder- 16th place & Kyan Rensing 18th place.  Kinsey Maschhoff finished in 31st place out of 190 girls competing.  Thank you and have a great day!

The Cougars had an amazing night competing at the Freeburg Invitational! 5 top 15 finishers: Madison Marshall (3rd place), Kinsey Maschoff (12th place), Mikey Finder (3rd place), Kyan Rensing (4th place), & Hudson Ohlendorf (14th place). The boys team finished 5th place out of 16 scored teams and the girls team finished 6th place out of 13 scored teams.  14 out of the 15 Cougars competing had season person best times with several having career personal best times.   Good luck to the cross country team as they compete in the Triad Jamboree today. There were 19 schools that competed in the invitational.  Smithton had  4 runners that finished within the top 15 in the Varsity races.   In the girls race: Madison Marshall (4th place) & Kinsey Maschoff (15th place).
